My Platform and Priorities:
Fiscal Conservative: We need balanced government budgets, including reserves for the inevitable lean years, just as you do for your own finances. I understand this principle and have practiced it my entire life.
Jobs / Education / Training: Today's modern economy needs highly skilled employees across all professions and occupations. We need to emphasize training programs for today's manufacturing economy (machinists, tool and die makers, microelectronics, plumbers, electricians, etc.). The "traditional" 4 year college experience is not the only path to meaningful careers, financial stability and personal growth.
Pro-Life: Life begins at conception and ends at natural death. Every life is precious.
Second Ammendment: Every citizen who qualifies has the right to gun ownership; enforce existing requirements and laws.
Mental Health / Addiction Crisis: Mental health is just as important as physical health. We all deserve second chances. We need to enlarge the Safe Station programs and model any new initiatives on proven successess. Access to good mental health services is fundamental to attacking the addiction crisis.
Pro NH Small Business & Entrepenuers: NH is a great place to start a small business. We are rich in resources, assistance and knowledge. In NH we have ~ 450,000 jobs in small businesses (< 999 employees) and ~ 100,000 jobs in large businesses. All are welcome!! We need to assist the dreamers who dare to start something great! Let's keep it simple for those entrepreneurs who are the risk takers. Although my own professional experience is with a large company, my husband Tom has his own engineering company, Jump Start Mfg. For the past 12 years I have watched and learned as he navigates the logistics of taxes, government compliance and out of state commerce. While NH is a great place to live and do business, we have to stay vigilant to keep regulations as minimal and simple as possible.
Compassion for the unheard voices: People sometimes need a hand, not a handout. This nation is based on the certainty that each human being is endowed with dignity and is therefore entitled to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Government, non-profits, religious institutions and individuals must all play a role in caring for our citizens in crisis.
